How to play Quake on your DS
73
I can play Quake on my DS, what??
Yep! If you enjoyed ID's Quake back in day on your PC, or even if you've never played it before, you will truly love this port to your DS. I take no credit for all the hardwork it took to make this possible, I simply provide a guide on how to make it work. This guide is targeted towards those who use the m3i zero, because that is what I use personally. If you do not have an m3i zero, or you do not know how to run homebrew software on your DS, follow my guide.
And if you don't even know what Quake is or why you would want it on your DS, go here to download a demo of the game for your PC.
And go here to visit the original page of the coder who made all this a reality!
Setting it up
Follow these steps in order and do everything precisely, and you will be playing Quake in no time!
- All of the files you will be downloading are compressed, if you do not have a way of extracting files, such as winrar, then download 7Zip and install it before doing anything.
- Download this, after extracting you'll have two folders, "Quake" and "ID1" Place these on the root of your microsdhc card.
- Do NOT rename the "ID1" folder, it must be named that way in order for everything to work.
- If you do not have the full version of Quake installed on your computer, download this, its a demo of Quake. You'll need to extract the contents of the zip file somewhere and then run the installer to install the game.
- In either case, whether you have the full version or the demo installed, navigate to where your Quake was installed and open that folder.
- Once you have the folder open, find the folder named "ID1" and open it.
- Copy "PAK0.PAK" and "PAK1.PAK" to the "ID1" folder on your microsdhc card.
- If you are unable to find the PAK files click the search button and type ".PAK"
- Once you have the "Quake" folder from earlier and the "ID1" folder with the PAK files in it on the root of your microsdhc card, you're ready to place it in your m3i and boot it up.
Almost done!
- Once your m3i boots up, click the "Quake" folder. There will be two .nds files
- To play single player, click "cquake.nds"
- To play multiplayer, click "cquake_mp.nds" Keep in mind your DS must have an internet connection in order to play multiplayer. If you don't know how to get your DS connected to the internet, click here. You can also play a local wireless match with a friend.
- Once you load up a game, you might not be so happy with the way I have my controls set, if that's the case, press start and adjust your controls. This part should be self explanatory, but if not, let me know and I'll help you.
- Oh and if you would like to have the full game on your DS, but don't know where to buy it, click my link below and order yours today! Have fun folks!
Quake is REALLY cheap now, maybe you should just buy it

will it work with another flashcard? I have a r4
Yes, it will. However, you cannot use a MicroSDHC card with the R4. You will have to use a MicroSD.
When I install it, all I get is "RESOURCES.EXE" in the dictionary it installed in
